How do these links relate to Freemasonry? This link section contains listings for coordinate, affiliate and other groups or organizations that have Masonic orientation, allegiance or are otherwise related to the broad concept of the Masonic family of organizations. The "Blue Lodge" and the "Master Mason" are considered by Masonry to be the highest attainable order of Freemasonry. How then do some of these other organizations relate? Some of these groups are very closely tied to the fraternity, some by being considered "advanced" degrees", others by requiring a Master Mason to be in attendance during meetings, or having a family relationship with a Master Mason for a condition of membership. Additionally some are recognized as "regular" in the eyes of Masonry, meaning that they are formally recognized by ones Grand Lodge, the Masonic equivalent of enjoying diplomatic relations. Others practice Freemasonry and its virtues, but may not have attained formal recognition with one or the other of the Grand Lodges to date. Many of these groups are recognized by some but not all of the Grand Lodges represented in these pages. Some of these organizations have no direct (organizational) relationship to Freemasonry, but are organized to provide some fraternal or social function, motivated by the tenants of Freemasonry. These are exemplified by the various military, camping and occupational groups. Others are organized as entities to maintain buildings or other artifacts of Masonic interest. All in all, these sites represent a diverse and interesting look at Freemasonry, and I hope you enjoy each of them. |
